The Riverview Jazz Trio is having an OPEN rehearsal at 208 Front St. to make use of a building that is currently waiting to be leased. All are welcome to come in and listen to this talented trio of local musicians prepare for their Benefit concert at the Imperial Theatre on October 7th at 7:30 in support of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and Bluewater Health Foundation (mammography dept.) as part of “Al Weiss and Friends” . It is a chance to see the inside workings of arranging tunes from the ground up and to hear some great jazz.
The trio was founded last summer and has been fortunate to play some shows at the Lawrence House in the acoustically perfect Turret Room as well as some other gigs in the community in the past year. Musical focus has been on JAZZ standards with new twists as well as remaking of some Motown influenced songs.
The band consists of local saxivist Al Weiss on saxophone, Andy Lloyd on Bass from Port Huron Michigan who plays in the ISO as well as other local groups, and Andy Tattersall a very talented freelance Jazz guitarist from Chatham Ontario who has played all over Southwestern Ontario as a first call soloist.
This trio is joining Al and his friends at the theatre in October: Locals Bil Eldridge (recording star; lead in JC Superstar); Danny Weiss (of ‘ The Altobeelays’); Almost Floating featuring Jim Chevalier; keyboardist/vocalist Mark O’Reilly; and Parker Weiss on trumpet as a member of the host band Yasgurs Farm based out of Toronto.
Thanks to Joe and Marilyn.
