Howl: Beat Poets in an Era of Resistance

“None of us understand what we’re doing, but we do beautiful things anyway.” ― Allen Ginsberg
The beat generation changed the world in their honest attempt at expressing their lived experiences.

For August’s First Friday, August 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, please join us in the courtyard of the Lawrence House for a sign-up open mic that celebrates the beat generation and all those who followed afterwards who found inspiration through their art.  You can write something and bring out an original piece and sing, play or speak it, or you can bring out your favourite piece by any of those inspired by the beats: Allan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Patti Smith, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan.
